Don't risk falling victim to password scams, trust DKSM to help keep your information safe and secure. To manage passwords securely, you can use strong passwords, avoid sharing them, and use a password manager

Create strong passwords

  • Use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols

  • Avoid using dictionary words or the names of people, places, or things

  • Make passwords at least 12 characters long, and 14 or more is better

  • Use a passphrase, which is a series of random words that's easy to remember

Avoid sharing passwords

  • Don't share your passwords with anyone, even colleagues

  • If you use the same password for multiple accounts, all of those accounts are at risk if the password is compromised

Use a password manager

  • A password manager encrypts your passwords and can generate strong passwords for you

  • This allows you to use unique, strong passwords for all your accounts

Other password management best practices:

  • Use multi-factor authentication (MFA)

  • Change your passwords frequently

  • Don't reuse old passwords

  • Secure your mobile phone

  • Address lost passwords

  • Centralize password management
